Stop spending Sunday
writing trivia.
Trivia software and question generator built for bar trivia hosts.
Source-checked facts from Britannica, Smithsonian, National Geographic, and .gov sources. Built for hosts who run trivia 1–7 nights a week — pick a topic, choose from four drafts, save.
Built with working bar-trivia hosts
Pick a topic. Watch a question appear.
This is a demo with three pre-canned topic branches. In the real writer, you can type any topic you want and we'll find fresh facts on the fly.

What should we quiz them on?
Pick a topic to see how it works.
Pick a fact to build on
These are real, source-checked snippets — your question will be grounded in whichever one you pick.
Pick a draft
Four ways to ask it — tap the one that lands best.
Question ready.
In the real writer, this saves straight into a bank and round.
How It Works
The real host loop — from "blank page" to "ready to host," then back next week without repeating yourself. Skip the suggestions on any step and write it yourself.
Pick a Topic
Choose from a curated list of seasonal and evergreen topics — or type whatever you want. "1990s sitcoms," "Marvel villains," "Australian geography" — anything works.
Grounded in Real Sources
We pull facts from an allowlist of trustworthy sources — Britannica, Smithsonian, National Geographic, .gov/.edu. Every fact links to its source URL, with the relevant text highlighted.
Pick a Draft, Polish, Save
Four drafts written from your chosen fact. Tap the one that lands best, edit the wording, confirm the answer, set the difficulty. It saves into your bank and round.
Run It, Mark It Used
After the show, mark which questions you ran at which bar. Next week each one carries a "used at Murphy's" badge — so you never accidentally repeat a question at the same venue.
What's your prep time worth?
Hosts tell us they spend anywhere from 1 to 20 hours a week writing questions. Plug in your numbers.
How many hours a week do you spend writing questions?
You'd save roughly
$480 / month
About 19 hours back per month.
Host — Host plan covers your pace.
What you're probably doing now
A spreadsheet you maintain by hand, or ChatGPT that makes things up. Both kind of work — here's where they cost you, side by side.
~ = possible, but only if you do it by hand every week.
Built for the way hosts actually work
Hosting isn't a one-off prompt — it's a weekly craft. The Writer is a workspace for that craft, not a question vending machine.
Per-venue history
Mark what you ran where. The Writer knows what you asked at Murphy's last week versus The Anchor on Tuesday — so the same question never lands twice at the same bar.
A bank, not just a generator
Everything saves into banks and rounds you reuse week to week. Reorder, re-run, and pull from past shows — your work compounds instead of scrolling off into a chat history.
Your style, your control
Edit any draft, swap the distractors, set your own difficulty — or skip the AI entirely and write from scratch. Every step has a "do it myself" path. You're the host; it's your voice.
Trade rounds with hosts in other cities
We're building host-to-host round sharing — swap a finished round with a host two states away, with territory awareness so you never trade with the bar down the street. Want in early? Start a plan and you'll be first to know.
Pick a plan that matches how much you host
Every plan caps monthly saved questions — no "unlimited" promise we can't keep. Start free, upgrade when you outgrow the cap.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to use the AI to write questions?
Nope. Every step has a "write your own" option — type your own topic, paste your own source material, or write the question from scratch. The AI is there if you want it, not a wall you have to push through.
Where do the facts come from?
A grounded search pulls facts from an allowlist of trustworthy sources — Wikipedia, Britannica, History.com, Smithsonian, NASA, and others. Every fact links to the exact source URL with the relevant text highlighted, so you can verify in one click.
Can I edit the question before saving?
Yes — the last step lets you tweak the question text, lock in the correct answer, edit distractors, and pick the difficulty. Nothing gets saved until you say so.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Card required to start, $0 charged today. Cancel before day 7 and you won't pay anything. Want a taste before the trial? Try the live demo at the top of this page — no signup needed.
How much does it cost?
Three tiers, all capped on monthly saved questions. Host is $24/month for 200 questions; Pro is $59/month for 600; Studio is $149/month for 1500. Annual billing gets 2 months free. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial (card required, $0 today). 14-day full refund on your first paid month.
What happens if I hit my monthly cap?
The writer pauses new question saves and prompts an upgrade. Everything you've already saved stays editable — you can still polish, reorder, and run the questions in your bank. The cap resets one month after your billing date.
Will my questions repeat what I've already written?
No — the angle and material suggesters track what you've already seen, so each shuffle gives you fresh material instead of recycling the same Wikipedia paragraph.
Will it warn me if I'm about to repeat a question at a venue?
It surfaces it for you. Mark questions as used at a venue after a show, and each one carries a "used N times at [bar]" badge with the date. So when you're building next week's round, you can see at a glance what you've already run there — no more "wait, did I ask this at Murphy's already?"
I host at four different bars on different nights — can it keep them separate?
Yep. Organize questions into separate banks and rounds, and mark usage per venue. Tuesday at The Anchor and Thursday at Murphy's stay separate — usage history is tracked per bar, so the same question can run at one venue without showing as "used" at another.
Can I import my existing questions from a spreadsheet?
Not yet — spreadsheet import is on the near-term roadmap. For now you can paste your own source material or write any question from scratch, and it saves into your bank right alongside the source-checked drafts. If bulk import would make or break it for you, let me know.
Can I share rounds with hosts in other cities?
Not yet, but it's the next big thing we're building: host-to-host round trading with territory awareness, so you only ever swap with hosts far enough away that you're not handing questions to the bar down the street. Start a plan and you'll be first to get it.
What question formats are supported?
Multiple choice (one right + three distractors), open text (with accepted variants), true/false, and list (name N things). Pick the format up front; the writer adapts each step to it.
