Charleston's trivia scene runs as deep as its history, with 55 active venues spanning the peninsula, West Ashley, Mount Pleasant, James Island, and all the way out to Folly Beach. This is a city that takes its social rituals seriously, and competitive pub quiz has worked its way onto the list right alongside shrimp and grits and porch sitting. The dominant force is Publik Education Trivia, which operates at 18 venues and has basically cornered the market on organized quiz nights. Their reach covers every corner of the metro. Charles Towne Fermentory locations in Avondale, James Island, and their Garden taproom all host different nights, while Mount Pleasant gets multiple options through Two Blokes Brewing, Crafty Draught, Hobcaw Brewing Company, and The Perch at Get Carried Away. On the peninsula, Smash City Burgers Downtown and The Co-Op Gourmet Sandwiches run Wednesday nights, and Philosophers & Fools holds a Tuesday session on Bogard Street. North Charleston isn't left out either, with Commonhouse Aleworks, Katsubō Fried Chicken & Ramen, Dashi, and King BBQ all hosting Publik Education nights. Beyond them, Tip of the Tongue Trivia runs two venues including Edmund's Oast Brewing Co. on upper King Street and Frothy Beard Brewing in West Ashley. Team Trivia has The Pub On 61, and Trivia Mafia books The Wandering Taps for a Friday night, one of very few end-of-week options in the entire market. The independent scene is substantial, with 33 venues running their own shows. Tuesday is the busiest night by a wide margin, with around 20 venues competing for your attention. Folly Beach does a lot with three separate Monday options clustered along Center Street: Planet Follywood, The Bounty Bar, and The Drop-In Bar & Deli on Wednesdays. On the peninsula proper, spots like Bay Street Biergarten, The Lucky Luchador, and Recovery Room Tavern on upper King Street give you plenty of independent variety. James Island has its own pocket of activity too, with Fam's Brewing, Garage 75, and Bohemian Bull all within a few miles of each other on Folly Road.
