Murfreesboro's trivia scene is one of the most company-dominated in the entire South, and that company is Nerdy Talk Trivia. They run nine of the city's 13 active venues. That kind of market share would be remarkable anywhere, but especially in a college town just 30 minutes southeast of Nashville, where you'd expect more competition. The result is a consistent experience across the city, with games running Monday through Thursday at spots clustered along Medical Center Parkway, Main Street, and the Maple Street corridor downtown. Tuesday is the biggest night, with five simultaneous Nerdy Talk games across Jefferson's on East Main, ML Rose, Neighbor's, Miller's Ale House, and MJ's Sports Bar (that last one actually run by Challenge Entertainment). Monday sees Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint and The Goat both firing up Nerdy Talk rounds at 7:00. Wednesdays bring Boombozz on Medical Center Parkway and Jefferson's downtown, both Nerdy Talk as well, plus an independent game at Jonathan's Grille. Thursday belongs to Middle Ground Brewing Company with Nerdy Talk and Happy's Sports Lounge on West Main, the latter hosted by Pub Trivia USA. The few independent holdouts add some variety. Cedar Glade Brews is the city's only Sunday option, running a 5:00 PM game that catches the weekend crowd winding down. For MTSU students and Murfreesboro locals alike, the real question isn't whether to play trivia. It's which Nerdy Talk venue is closest to your apartment.
